How Many Wedding Photos Will We Get?
Quick answer: for a full-day wedding you’ll usually get somewhere between 500 and 1,000 finished photos, and typically around 600 to 700. For a shorter, four-hour wedding it’s usually 250 to 400.
It’s one of the first questions couples ask me, so rather than guess, I counted. These figures come from the weddings I photographed in 2026.
How many photos for each length of day
| Coverage | Usual number of photos |
|---|---|
| Intimate collection (4 hours) | 250 to 400 |
| 8 hours | 500 to 650 |
| 10 to 12 hours | 600 to 1,000 |
Across all of this year’s full-day weddings, the average was just over 700 photos. The biggest was a very long day of nearly 15 hours, at just over 1,000.
Why the number changes
The length of your day is the biggest factor, but it isn’t the only one. A day with a long drinks reception, lots of guests, a busy dance floor and a few surprises along the way will give you more photos than a quiet one of the same length.
Bigger families mean more group photos. Speeches that run long, a band that gets everyone up, kids running around the grounds and a twilight shoot all add up too. I don’t aim for a number. I photograph what happens.
Quality over quantity
I don’t chase a big number. I keep the best of each moment and edit every one of them properly, so every photo in your gallery is there because it’s worth looking at.
If you love a photo in colour, you can also have it in black and white, so you get to choose the version you like best.
What happens to your photos
My full-day collections include a same-day slideshow. On your wedding night I show a selection of photos from the day on a TV screen, so you and your guests can see them before everyone goes home, and those same photos go live online that night too. Your full gallery of edited photos follows about four weeks later. Here’s the full timeline: how long wedding photos take.
Once your full gallery is ready, you choose your favourites for your album from it. The albums in my Classic and Signature collections have 20 pages, which fits roughly 50 images, and the Ultimate album has 40 pages, roughly 100 images. You choose as many images as you want, and if you pick more, I add extra pages at £25 per double-page spread, so having a good selection to choose from really helps.
Frequently asked questions
When will we see our photos?
Your full gallery of edited photos takes about four weeks. If your collection includes the same-day slideshow, you’ll also see a selection of photos on your wedding night, on a TV screen and online.
How many photos go in the album?
Classic and Signature albums have 20 pages, which fits roughly 50 images, and the Ultimate album has 40 pages, roughly 100 images. You choose as many as you want from your gallery, and extra pages are £25 per double-page spread.
Will we get more photos with a longer collection?
Usually, yes, because there’s more of the day to photograph. But the number depends just as much on what happens on the day as on how long I’m there.
